CRIME REPORTS AND STATISTICS
Each month, our department processes more than 200 written incident reports, 130 traffic collision reports, 160 criminal arrest reports, 500 uniform citations (tickets), and countless miscellaneous reports generated by members of the department. They are reviewed daily, audited, and properly disseminated by our Records Division. On a daily basis, we receive more than fifty requests for copies of reports. Reports are generally available within 48 business hours of the date of the report.
There is often confusion between what is classified as 'public record' (accessible by anyone who should ask) and that which is not. The portion of any criminal investigative report (ie. Break-in, Larceny, Communicating Threats, etc.) that identifies suspect information, juvenile information or any criminal investigative notes is not public record and cannot be released without direction from the court or the District Attorney's office. The public record portion provides the basic information necessary for insurance companies to initiate the processing of claims.
COPIES OF REPORTS: To obtain a copy of any report submitted to our department, you may stop by the station during normal business hours (8:00 am.-5:00 pm.)
